Information Regarding Secure Watch Solicitors

Officer Deborah Hansen released the following email regarding Secure Watch solicitors in the Apex area.

Apex Community Watch members,

I have received a few questions and complaints concerning the validity of solicitors reporting to be from Secure Watch security company and peddling ADT alarm and equipment in the area. I have contacted the local ADT office in Morrisville regarding the tactics of the solicitors. The representative from ADT reports that these folks are not representatives from ADT but are merely a dealer of ADT equipment that is located in Greensboro NC. ADT has received a number of complaints regarding these individuals and are contacting the North Carolina Alarm Licensure to have Secure Watch company stop the inappropriate sales tactics. I have also tried to make contact with the Secure Watch company through information provided by one of the solicitors but was unsuccessful.

Currently the Apex Police department has not issued any soliciting permit to secure watch or any other security company. It is against the Apex City code to solicit with out a permit. The Apex Police department has cited one individual from this company for soliciting with out a permit this week. If you are approached by solicitors and are unsure if they have a permit please contact the non emergency number 362-8661. Officers can meet with the individuals and ensure their permits are up to date.

Happy Holidays,
