It can be very stressful to move to a new area. Your neighbors in Haddon Hall (and all of Apex, for that matter) welcome you and can be great sources of information. But just in case your neighbor introduces himself as the King of Pop or herself as the Empress of Everything, here are sources that you can trust.
Utilities
Need electricity, sewer and water services? The Town of Apex’s Utilities and Finance Department handles that on their Request for Service page. You will also find a link explaining NC GreenPower which is a non-profit organization tasked by the N.C. Utilities Commission to encourage use of renewable energy sources.
Public Schools
Wake County Public School System provides public education to kids in Haddon Hall. You can get more informationon their Newcomer's Page.
Salem Elementary and Baucom Elementary are base schools for K-5 students, Apex Middle and Salem Middle Schools are the middle schools for our neighborhood and 9-12 grade students’ attend Apex High School. The elementary and middle schools are on a year ‘round track system, while the high school is on a traditional schedule.
Trash Pick up
For Haddon Place, trash pick-up is on Fridays. For the rest of Haddon Hall, Tuesday is trash day. Click through to Apex's Public Works page to find your day.
The Town of Apex provides one large trash container and one recycling bin. Make sure your trash is on the curb early on your trash day and pull the bins out of sight by that evening. The City of Apex will pick up flattened moving boxes for new residents. Just fill out this form found on the Public Works menu of the Town of Apex’s website.
Weather
Yes, we have it. And seasons, too. (for those of us from balmy regions). If you need to know the local forecast, you can check out Triangle Weather.com or many other web sites.
The region is suffering through a long drought. Water restrictions have been put into place by local governments at the behest of Governor Easley. Check out Apex'swater restrictions to see how this could affect you.
Are we there yet? Are we lost yet?
You kids—don’t make me go back there! Find your way around with Mapquest, Google Maps, Rand McNally, or Yahoo Maps—or with a real map. It’s your choice, really.
Identify Yourself
One of the first places you may want to find on the map is the local DMV office. You can find information about getting your driver’s license and registering your vehicles on their web site.
Hungry yet?
As the Town of Apex grows, more and more restaurants are opening. Some are closing very quickly, too. So you won’t find links to all your choices here. But you will find a few to get you through the rough unpacking days (Of course, some will involve more boxes!).
Papa John’s Pizza

Breugger’s Bagel’s

Shopping
Old-timers tell about days of yore when you had to drive all the way to Crossroads in Cary to get any major shopping done. Okay-- that was just a couple of years ago. Haddon Hall residents now have many nearby shopping opportunities. There are several community shopping centers within walking distance of Haddon Hall. Grocery stores Harris Teeter and Lowe’s Foods are close by. Beaver Creek Shopping Center provides “big box” shopping fun along with many specialty shops, a 12-screen cinema and restaurants. A stroll through downtown Apex encourages leisurely window shopping and spontaneous purchases of unique items. Don’t ask me how I know that.
